In Israel and Ready to Dig Again!

My group and I arrived safely in Israel yesterday afternoon. We are now in Jerusalem and plan to join the Khirbet Qeiyafa excavation team late tomorrow morning after worship.

Our hotel is in the Old City, just a short walk from the Damascus Gate and the north wall. The hotel is clean, safe, well-located, and comfortable but my favorite feature is the view from the roof.

Our morning view of Jerusalem from the roof of our hotel. The Dome of the Rock is clearly visible to the right. It sits in the center of the Temple Mount, probably on the spot where the Jewish temples were located. The hill in the background is the Mount of Olives. (Photo by Luke Chandler)

It’s simply relaxing and fantastic to sit on the roof during morning breakfast and on a breezy evening.

Much more to come in the next days, so check back frequently.
