CNN just posted a video feature on Khirbet Qeiyafa to its Belief Blog. The video was made the week before I came to Qeiyafa this year (!) and aired on CNN International back in July. This re-post includes a followup interview with the reporter.
Two corrections to the followup interview:
- The excavators have unearthed 10% of the site since 2007 – not just in the past couple of years.
- As for the future, the excavators plan only two more years at Qeiyafa before moving across the valley to the site of Socoh in 2014.
Modern archaeology has an unwritten rule: Don’t excavate everything. Leave something for the future. Someone may return in 20, 50 or 100 years with new methods and technology that can discern new things.
