The new ESV Study Bible is officially available today. My pre-ordered Bible arrived yesterday afternoon. I must say I’m impressed. There are plentiful maps, charts and illustrations that I believe will be useful to any Bible student or teacher. The study notes I’ve read are insightful and stimulate thought.
I have found so far that it respects the Bible and its text. For example, the introduction to James describes why some scholars question the author’s identity and assume a late date for the epistle, but it concludes with reasons supporting an early date and James’ authorship.
Anyone who purchases this edition receives free access to the online version. It has the full searchable text, the articles, all of the maps, charts and illustrations in digital format, and all of the Bible Notes as links.
I’m already finding the ESV Study Bible and its online version as useful resources for my Gospel Meeting in Alabama next week.
Appreciated the post on the new ESV; have been looking for a new study Bible.
